WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 5 June 2022
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and [ conveyed us into the kingdom of
the Son of His love,
14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. The power of darkness
2. Paul has made many mentions of the Evil One and his deadly powers:
a) Ephesians 2
i) He influences the world
ii) He corrupts many
iii) Many obey him
iv) Many become disobedient
b) Ephesians 6
i) He leads powerful spirits
ii) These are at war with believers
iii) Human power is useless against such powerful spirit beings
3. Deliverance
a) Only the Lord can deliver us from Satan
b) Only His power can defeat the evil one
4. What the Lord has done
a) He has taken us out of the kingdom of darkness
b) He has conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ
c) This Kingdom was given to His Son whom He loves
5. In the Lord Jesus
a) We have full redemption
b) The redemption we have is through the shed blood of the Lord Jesus
c) And in this redemption, we have forgiveness of sins
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. These are “old truths”
a) They are often taken for granted
b) Let us make sure that these are not just theoretical truths
2. These are truths:
a) To be treasured
b) To be kept close to the heart
c) To be appreciated deeply
d) To be preached mightily
e) To be studied in even greater details
3. The sad reality
a) Many know these truths only theoretically
b) They are not fully applied in life and ministry
