WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 31 May 2020
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood
and clay, some for honour and some for dishonour. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses
himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the
Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. The illustration of a great house

ii) Some vessels are made of wood and clay (pots and pans)
c) Usage of the utensils

ii) Some would be used for not honourable purposes
2. This illustration is easily understood
a) In our own households we distinguish vessels
b) Some are used on special occasions
c) Some are used for ordinary occasions
d) Some vessels are not even good to use

b) We have to be sanctified
c) We have to be prepared
4. Can pastors become vessels of dishonour?
a) Unfortunately, Yes!
b) This is easily observable!
5. Our Challenge
a) Check our hearts carefully
b) Cleansing must be done carefully
c) Presenting ourselves to the LORD as clean vessels
i) To be done regularly
ii) To be done humbly

Then would be vessels for honour for every good work!
Prayerfully,
Pastor Charles Tan
