WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 3 April 2022
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Ephesians 6:17
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

ii) Our kingdom is a heavenly one
iii) Our helmet will reflect the grace and mercy of the Lord given to us
2. The Doctrine of our Salvation
a) This ought to be carefully studied
b) It ought to be thoroughly mastered
c) There is every reason to rejoice
d) May we glory in the salvation God has given to us!
3. The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
a) The word of God has so many wonderful features
b) Consider afresh what David wrote about the Word of God
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Psalm 19:7-11
4. The Word of God has life-changing power!
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. There is so much weakness in many pastors with reference to God’s word in their life
2. The common problems
a) We don’t read enough
b) We cannot read deeper
c) We do not memorise
d) We do not apply
e) We don’t know how to use the word of God as the sword of the Spirit!
Prayerfully,
Pastor Charles Tan
