Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION
22  And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the
church,
23  which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Ephesians 1:22-23

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

1. The Church

a) This is called “The Body” of the Lord Jesus Christ
b) This describes the Church as:

i) A spiritual entity
ii) It is a profound mystery

2. The Head of the Church

a) It is the Lord Jesus Christ
b) All things are placed under His feet

i) All are to submit to the Lord
ii) All are to honour Him
iii) And to have the highest sense of regard for Him

3. The ideal of Fullness

a) Psalm 36:8 describes the fullness of God’s house
b) These would include:

i) Provision
ii) Protection

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. Problems we see today in churches

a) Headship of the Lord

i) This is not recognized
ii) He is not given the honour

b) Human headship

i) This is wrong
ii) This is dangerous
iii) This will meet with resistance from the Lord

2. Re-establishing the Church on Biblical teachings

a) Highest regard

i) We must have the highest regard for the Church
ii) Those who served in the OT days showed a high regard

b) Humble service

i) It is our privilege to serve
ii) It is our duty to be faithful
iii) It is required for us to be responsible

c) Teaching focus

i) We must teach members to have a high regard for the Church
ii) All must be taught how to appreciate Church as the Body of Christ
iii) A healthy regard for the Church would lead to many blessings
