Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
8 But hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-
controlled, 9 holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able,
by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. Titus 1:8-9
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
1. More qualities of a good leader
a) Hospitable
b) Lover of what is good
c) Sober-mindedness
d) Just
e) Holy
f) Self-controlled
2. Handling the word of God
a) He must hold fast to the faithful word
b) He must not depart from what he has been taught
3. He must be able to minister well
a) He is able to teach sound doctrine
b) He is able to exhort
c) He is able to convince and convict those who are contradicting the truth
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. Leadership and the Church
a) Good leaders will be a blessing to the Church
b) Thus, good leaders must be found
2. The training of leaders
a) This must be an on-going process
b) Seminary studies
They are only providing foundational work
c) The training of leaders must go beyond Seminary education
OUR CHALLENGE
1. As Pastors
a) We must keep strong
b) It is good practice to check
i) Our life
ii) Our ministry
2. The future
a) We must constantly look at the future
b) New leaders must be found
c) The next generation leaders must be groomed properly
d) There must be adequate preparation and training for future leaders
3. Learning from past mistakes
a) Mistakes are inevitable
b) The challenge is to learn from them
c) We will emerge stronger and wiser
