WEEKEND PASTORAL LETTER 14 February 2021
Dear Brethren,
MEDITATION
That in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in
one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
Ephesians 1:10
OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION
There are a few key concepts that we need to take note of:
1. The word “dispensation”
a) It simply means “administration”
b) Or “organization”
c) Implication:
i) God organizes and administers
ii) Nothing happens at random
iii) God’s plans are unfolded and revealed according to His plans
2. The fullness of the times
a) God works with Time in mind
b) Time may be divided into periods
i) Creation
ii) Man’s fall
iii) Plan for the Redemption of mankind
iv) Prophets foretold this
v) The sending of the Lord Jesus to be our Saviour
vi) His return to Heaven
vii) The Ministry of the Spirit from the time the Church was founded until today
viii) The fullness of God’s timetable would be when the Lord Jesus returns to earth
3. What God would do
a) He would gather all believers as one
b) This would include:
i) Those already in heaven
ii) Those presently living on earth
c) He would gather all things in Christ!
4. This is a glorious picture of what the Lord God would be doing in the future
APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY
1. God has a clear and definite Plan
a) It is centered in Christ
b) It is an on-going work
c) He would complete it one day
2. Our response
a) To keep learning about how we can be more knowledgeable servants of God
b) Let us pray fervently, “Your kingdom come”
c) Let us ever look forward to the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ
d) Let us remain faithful and diligent in the work God has given to us to do
Prayerfully,
Pastor Charles Tan
