Dear Brethren,

MEDITATION

15 But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

16 From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share,causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 4:15-16

OBSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION

1. But, speaking the truth in love

a) Truth
b) Love
c) Both are important!

They complement each other

2. May grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

a) Truth and Lobe
These will help a person to grow
b) Growth in all things

i) Knowledge
ii) Faith
iii) Character
iv) wisdom
v) Skills

c) Growing into Him

i) Motion towards the Lord Jesus Christ

This is our direction
ii) We are to be like the Lord

Following His footsteps

3. Picture of the whole body

a) The whole body

i) Knit
ii) Joint

b) Every part

i) All parts must be in good working order
ii) Every part healthy and able to contribute towards the Body

c) Causes growth

i) There will be good growth if everyone does his share
ii) We will be able to edify each other

d) The place of love

i) We are reminded of the fruit of love
ii) May the Fruit of the Spirit be cultivated

APPLICATION TO LIFE AND MINISTRY

1. The Pastoral Ministry
Much depends on the contribution of the pastor
2. Much must be put in if we want the Church to grow strong
3. Let us seek to do our part faithfully and untiringly
